Lake County >> Most people can remember their elementary school days, when show and tell was a weekly event. Kids would bring in toys and gadgets, all their most prized possessions. On occasion, some students went so far as to bring in pets. Lee Company, he hauled a different racing trophy into the classroom every week.
“I literally grew up on an oval,” Company said.
At seven years old, he was racing Quarter Midgets. He was also learning the mechanical ins and outs of classic cars from his father, who would dismantle the engine, hand all the parts to Compay and have him clean everything. As Company buffed and shined, his father would explain the workings of each part and piece.
